The City

An Open-Source Discussion About God

Welcome to The City!

A city is a large, densely populated area from which originates government, education, and culture. It is a vibrant, fast-moving atmosphere characterized by the exchange of a vast amount of information. In a city, one can find a mosaic of various cultures interwoven into a unified whole.

Likewise, The City seeks to be a place where information is freely exchanged as a mosaic of people come together from various walks to contribute to a particular conversation.

I will post regularly about a topic or series of topics, but my perspective is only one of many. Please feel free to share a different perspective or expound upon the perspective I have presented. When commenting, though, please observe the following courtesies:

1. I have respect for differing opinions than my own and I am not so proud as to assume that my words are infallible. If I have blatantly misspoken, I welcome a loving correction. But if you simply feel the need to comment in order to bash my position, please stop...take a breath...and have the same respect for my opinion that I have for yours. Simply put, agree to disagree with me.

2. I am an evangelical Christ-follower, and from thus comes my perspective. When I post, I make every effort to present well-supported arguments, not simply unfounded opinions. It would be foolish for me (or you) to assume that we all have the same beliefs on every issue, but if you choose to respectfully disagree with me, please do your research first and don't speak from ignorance. That will only make you look like a fool.

3. Cordial and friendly discussion is always welcomed. Endless debate is not. There are forums available online for you to engage in debate with others, but this is not one of them. Discussion does not preclude opposing opinions, but I will promptly put an end to any discussion that turns into a hostile debate.

4. In keeping with the ethics of this site in general, I would ask that you refrain from using foul or harsh language (unless the occasion is warranted...which would be rare).

5. I enjoy reading others' blogs as much as anyone, and I welcome you to include a link to your blog at the end of your comment. Please, however, refrain from using the comments as a means to promote a business, website, event, or anything else that is unrelated to the purposes of this blog.

Aside from these general guidelines, all comments are welcome and it is my prayer that you may be blessed and grow from the discussions you engage in through my writing.

Go in the peace of God,

Matt
